Velverie is a romance reader discovery app created by Breanna Louise Lancaster ("Velverie", "we", "us", "our"). ABN: 34 403 276 869. We are based in Victoria, Australia.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the Velverie app, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have. We have written it in plain English because we believe you deserve to understand it.
By creating an account or using Velverie, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
This policy applies to all users of the Velverie app, regardless of where you are located. We are committed to complying with:
We only collect data that is necessary to provide and improve Velverie.
When you create an account, we collect your email address and your password (stored in encrypted form — we never store it as plain text). We need this to create and secure your account.
When you use Velverie, we collect and store:
This is the core of what Velverie does — personalising your discovery experience. Without it, the app cannot function.
If you subscribe to Velverie Pro, we store your subscription status (active, lapsed, cancelled) and your subscription tier (monthly or annual). We do not store your payment card details. All payments are processed by Apple (via the App Store) or Google (via the Play Store). We never see or handle your payment information directly.
For app stability and crash reporting, we may collect your device type, operating system and version, and app version. We use Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) for crash reporting.

Velverie includes an optional analytics toggle in Settings ("Help improve recommendations"). When this toggle is on (which it is by default), we may collect anonymised data about how you use the app, such as which features you interact with. When you turn this toggle off, we stop collecting this data immediately. No exceptions.
We will update this section when our analytics provider is confirmed, and name the provider here along with a link to their own privacy policy.
For users in the UK and EU, UK/EU GDPR requires us to have a lawful basis for processing your personal data. Our bases are:
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We share data with the following third parties only where necessary to run the service:
We use Supabase to store your account data, reading data, and preferences. Data is stored on servers located in AWS ap-southeast-2 (Sydney, Australia).
Supabase Privacy Policy: supabase.com/privacy
We use RevenueCat to manage Velverie Pro subscriptions. RevenueCat handles subscription validation and communicates with Apple and Google on our behalf. RevenueCat does not receive your payment details.
RevenueCat Privacy Policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
If you download Velverie via the App Store or Google Play, Apple or Google may collect data about that transaction under their own privacy policies. We do not control this data.

Google Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy
Velverie may include links to purchase books through third-party retailers (such as Amazon or Bookshop.org). Some of these links may be affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you if you make a purchase through them.
Where affiliate links are used, they will be clearly labelled in the app. The inclusion of an affiliate link does not influence the books we recommend — our recommendations are driven solely by your preferences and reading data.
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your email address, password, reading data, preferences, and all personal data will be permanently deleted from our systems. Subscription transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years to comply with Australian tax and financial record-keeping obligations. You will be shown clearly what will be deleted before you confirm account deletion in the app.
Depending on where you are located, you have rights over your personal data, including the right to access, correct, erase, and port your data, and the right to object to or withdraw consent for processing. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@velverie.app. We will respond within 30 days.
Velverie is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 17. The app is rated 17+ on the App Store due to the nature of romance content. If you believe a child under 17 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@velverie.app.
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal data from loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. Passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure. We will notify you and any relevant authorities as required by law in the event of a data breach that affects your rights.
Your data may be stored on servers located outside Australia. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable law.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you within the app where required by law. Your continued use of Velverie after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first at privacy@velverie.app.
